How to set pre/post booking travel time / clean-up time

BookingBug offers a two different options to allow your customers to book an appointment with a set duration but have that block out more time either before or after their booking in your admin calendar.

Option 1 - Clean Up Time

This option is most applicable if you want to offer clean-up time. For example, you may offer your customers a 45 minute massage but you need to block out 60 minutes in your calendar without informing the customer of this.

  • For this option you need to make sure that your service type set under Account - Settings - Services is set to Fixed Time.
  • Under Configure you need to edit the service in question
  • Under Time Settings set the Duration to be the full time that you wish to be marked as busy
  • Under Advanced Time Settings set the Listed Duration to be the length of time in minutes that you wish the customer to see on all booking information and emails
  • When a customer books they will only see the listed duration but it will block out time for the full duration

Option 2 - Travel Time

This option is most applicable if you need time to travel between appointments, for example a driving instructor that offers 60 or 120 minute lessons but needs to block 30 minutes at the end of each appointment so that they can reach their next appointment.

  • For this option you need to make sure that your service type set under Account - Settings - Services is set to Variable Flex Time
  • Under Configure you need to edit the service in question
  • Under Time Settings you can set different durations with different prices (i.e. a 60 minute lesson for £50 and a 120 minute lesson for £80)
  • Under Travel Time you can set how much available time you need before and / or after the appointment for a booking to be possible
  • For example, if post-time is set to be 30 minutes and the service duration is 60 minutes then customers will only be able to book a time if there is 90 minutes available in the instructors calendar
